And here's the chopped white onion. And the crushed garlic. Aside from these ingredients, we're also going to use cooking oil, salt, ground black pepper and little bit of water. And here's the complete list of the ingredients There are only few ingredients, right? And the potatoes are only optional. If you're ready, then let's start cooking! Preheat a pan or a wok on a stove top and add cooking oil. Wait until cooking oil is warm It's important to swirl the cooking oil to spread across the pan. When the cooking oil is already warm, pan-fry the potatoes. We'll cook the potatoes a bit and remove it from the pan later. While pan frying, it's important to stir the potatoes once in a while. to cook the potatoes evenly. The potatoes are optional. We can still cook Ginisang Corned Beef even without potatoes. It's up to you if you want to add potatoes, just like what i'm doing right now. Potatoes are usually added as fillers. We add them so that more people can eat. We'll just toss the it. The important thing to remember: We will not fully fry the potatoes. We will cook it again together with the corned beef. Now, we'll remove it from the pan. I will set is aside now, then we will continue cooking. With the cooking oil left on the pan, let's saute the onion. This is chopped white onion. We can also use yellow, red onionsor even shallots. After 30 seconds, add the garlic. I just crushed the garlic. You can cut this into smaller pieces, if you want. Saute until the onion is soft and garlic is a bit brown. When that happens, we can now add the corned beef. And here's our corned beef. I'm using a Filipino brand of corned beef, but you can use any brand you prefer. You can use your favorite corned beef to make it more special. This cornbeef is a 12 ounces corned beef, which is around 340 grams. Just saute the corned beef. If you're in a cold place like here in Chicago, you will notice that the corned beef from a can still a bit hard. But as we continue to cook, the beef's fat is starting to melt. The texture is also starting to change. Saute for about 5 minutes and continute stir-frying. After 5 minutes, add the pan-fried potatoes we had earlier. And saute again. This time, mix slowly We have already cooked the potatoes earlier and now we're cooking it again (it means the potatoes are already soft). We just need to mix it slowly so as not to crush it. Continue for about 3-4 minutes. To make sure that the potatoes are fully cooked, I usually add a bit of water You can skip adding water. This is just an optional step. I added water to make sure that the potatoes are well-cooked. Because if you noticed, upon adding the water, it simmers right away. While simmering, you're also cooking the potatoes. This will just take a while, and the water will evaporate when it boils. And when the water evaporates, this means that our Ginisang Corned Beef is ready. One alternative is, you can skip the pan-frying of potatoes. You can just add the cubed potatoes once the corned beef is sauted. Then we'll just add 1 cup of water, and let it simmer. While simmering, you're also cooking the potatoes, right? When the water fully evaporates, it means our corned beef with potatoes is ready. Season with ground black pepper and salt. Taste the corned beef first to know how much salt and ground black pepper to add. Stir to make sure that the salt and pepper are evenly distributed.
